Denise Cormier Mahoney BFA ‘83

Originally from the French Acadian Valley of Memramcook, New Brunswick, I currently reside in the Seattle, Washington area. I have been pursuing a professional career as a visual artist for twelve years and three years ago chose to go back to school to share my passion for the arts as an art teacher. I currently teach at the secondary level at Crosspoint Academy in Bremerton and have a true desire to share the freedom and splendor of artistic expression with others.  I believe that the delight of teaching is directly proportionate to an enthusiasm of practicing your own skill and pursuing your own innovative ideas.

I am currently working on a Master’s in Art Education through Texas Tech University and am an active member in the art community. I believe it is important to expose and immerse our children, friends and neighbors into this generation’s art society. I am the founder of a quarterly art walk in Old Town Silverdale, WA. This is the Art Walk’s 7th year and it continues to be successful at introducing local artists from our community by displaying their work in local businesses. I am an active member in the Women Painters of WA and the Federation of Canadian Artists.
